Making Strides

We have been “haulin’” for a couple of days, at least for us. 480 miles in one 11 1/2 hour day and 433 miles in 10 1/2 hours the next day to get from Joliet, Illinois to Wall, South Dakota. But we wanted to get here quickly because we want to have most of a day to travel through Badlands National Parks before we move on to Mount Rushmore and the Black Hills. Also, being in Wall to have our dinner at Wall Drug is pretty special. It has been nearly 23 years since we were here last with our sons during our Summer of ‘93 trip around the country. That was a wonderful trip and we hope our kids remember it as fondly as we do.

From here, it was a short trip, for us, to Rapid City, SD, and a longer stay at Rushmore Shadows Resort. We will be here for 6 days and will see a lot of the Black Hills including Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, Crazy Horse, Deadwood and Lead. It should be fun but hopefully also relaxing.
